What does success mean to you? Psychologist say that success means different things to different people. This will depend on the amount of money you have available to market and appropriately promote your website. You can take the easy route, (if you have a lot of available advertising and web promotion cash) hire a marketing and advertising firm to do the work for you so that you can concentrate on the adding content part of your webmastering career. Again for a small website publisher this isn’t possible, simply because the cash isn’t there.

If you do have a little amount of available cash to do your website promotion a perfect way to get our website a jump start with an instant flow of traffic is Google adwords. Adwords can be a blessing for some and at the same time a nightmare for most. This technique will give you an instant boost of traffic, now targeted, buyers, or quality traffic is another word. You must experiment with your keywords that you will bid on, before you release a full bloom campaign. Set a three dollar limit for those keywords you test that you can bid on that you estimate will cost you anywhere between five cents to sixty cents. Generally if you get these types of prices than the keywords do not have a lot of competition, which can be both good or bad. Good, you may be lucky and the other guys haven’t targeted these keywords as good returns, or bad as in the keyword has a very low search volume or the keywords haven’t produced or are what are called “lookers” and not “Buyers”.  Lookers are what is typically described as a paid audience that is only lookers, who have no intention in buying. These can be a good targeted audience for those who run information only or personal websites that don’t sell anything. Buyers are those who, simply put, buy. They do the search to buy, and of course they are the audience you will want.

Take the time and test, find out what keywords produce the best than release it to a full operation. This will save you a lot of money in the long run. Running the wrong keywords can make your advertising balance dwindle in hours with out results, thus eliminating your advertising fund.

If your website is selling your products, or a full bloom Ecommerce website, that you may want to think about adding a affiliate marketing option to your website. Do not underestimate that affiliate tool, this will have people marketing your website and products for you. All you will have to do is give the affiliates a portion of the sale that is generated from their referrals. Some Ecommerce solutions give a percentage per sale profits of 4% to 50%. Remember experienced and successful affiliate marketers only market those that make it worth wild for their efforts. A low percentage per sale, will hamper you affiliate marketer database, the higher the percentage the more you will have marketing your products.

Run classified ads, newspaper block ads, business cards, radio ads, and magazine ads are another paid way to website promotion.

Free ways to web promotion:

First step is to submit your URL into all the major search engines. To do so all you have to do is type in the search bar:

Add url into Google, or yahoo, or so on….You should produce the appropriate link with in the search results. This isn’t a short term way to web promotion, it’s a long term, it’s the step to get your site indexed. This will take weeks, even months to even get one of your pages indexed. They are sometimes slow, and to get every page indexed, that isn’t a guarantee…..

After you have done this, sit down and write a press release. Do not make it to spammy or affiliate targeted. Write it as if you are a visitor, review the site. Then find press release websites that allow you to submit your content. Submit it.

The next step to website promotion is to find traffic, top-sites, or banner exchange websites similar to your websites subject. Sign us for as many as you can. It sucks because many of these require you to post a back link to them or banner in order for your website to be submitted.  (This will give you some upfront traffic if you get on the popular traffic exchange sites, Quality? It will be up in the air, but it’s traffic at first.

The next step is to submit your website into as many directories as you can. You must create back links, and directories, especially popular ones, will do your website well. DMOZ is the first directory you should start with…Then go from there.

Back links is the key to get your website pages to the top of search engines, especially Google. Directories are essential. Now what? You must continue to build your back links. Start signing up for Forums that have a subject matter similar to your website. Put your website link in your signature and start participating in the forum discussions. Now every time you reply or start a post you place a back link. Forums are not the only place to get your back links, commenting on blogs in another ways, especially to those that deal in your subject manner. Do these daily, and after a few months you could have a thousand quality back links to your website. Remember putting your link on a site that has no relevance in subject matter to yours will do nothing for your website, the back links must be on sites that are relevant to yours, and the higher the page ranking the better your back link will work for you.

Another way to create back links is to write short 200 to 500 word articles and submit them into article directories such as ezine articles. It’s best to try and put a new article once a week, if you can. Your author bio will contain your link to your website. (Again write in the subject relevant to your website, or this is useless) If your article has value than it may work well for you. One good article may in the end, give you thousands of quality back links. These article websites allow people to pick them up and republish them on their websites with two requirements, the author bio and the article directory links stays in tact.

The next step is to post classified ads in classified ads sites. (some are free, while others will cost a membership fee).

Don’t overlook social network websites. Get an account on a social website and make it strictly for website promotion of your website, you will be surprised at how this works.

Follow those steps and you will see a boost in traffic eventually. Don’t forget, with all the back links you place, you will eventually rise in the search result rankings, thus giving you an endless supply of quality traffic.

As a special tip to you don’t forget to check out widgets if your website produces rss feeds. These widgets can get spread around the web like  a wildfire if your content is interesting…..You could produce thousands of visitors from on single widget.

Ebay has provided just about anyone who has tried ebay a way to earn some fantastic extra cash from their own homes. You don’t have to be a professional to make money on eBay. There are several ways to generate some extra cash from using ebay. Most people start by finding their unused items and then posting them online. Millions of people have started out on eBay this way.

Even though you may think that your stuff you have stashed away in the attic, the closet, the garage, or the basement is worthless, guess again. There is an old saying that can’t be said enough, “Your junk is another man’s treasure”. You may be surprised at what you can sell on eBay, as long as it doesn’t conflict with eBay’s terms of Use.

The trick to getting the highest price on your items is to do some research. You can do so by using the advance search feature on Ebay’s right side bar while viewing auctions. After you have picked out the items you will want to sell, do an advance search on them items. The results of the past auctions similar to your item will appear. Find the most successful auctions (what auction of an item similar to yours went the highest) Pick out the top 5. The next step is to make note of their starting price, what category they listed it in, the title words (The Title is very Important), and the way they described the item.

Now that you have this information, it’s time to prepare for your listing. Take a few pictures of your item in many different directions. (This can not be understated, “A picture is worth a thousand words”) Make sure that your photo’s are high quality. You may want to play with your background and lighting, until you are satisfied with the results.

Once you have completed your pictures, take out a piece of paper and describe the item to a tee. Make note of it’s condition, the age, if or any defaults, such as scratches. (People love honest people, makes them feel safe) After writing the description, make not of the words used in each of the top five titles. They may use words such as Vintage, Rare, Hot, Classic and so on. Use them, they are very valuable when people do searches, those words help your listings stand out of the average crowd.

It’s time to list your item. Pick the exact category of the top auction. Then finish the process. Post at least 3 good pictures, if you need more than do it. Copy your written description into the description box, Make sure that the spelling is correct and it is NOT typed in all capitals, for some reason this annoys people. After you have placed your description into the box. Find your Keywords in your description and bold them. This will help target you for those keywords, if there isn’t a bold button to do this, use the following before and after your targeted word or words:

Put your starting price with in or at the average starting price of the top five auctions (if you can afford to do so). Check the area’s you are allow the auction to sell to, such as United States or World Wide. Make sure you have the appropriate shipping weight, and add about a $1.50 to $2.00 handling charge for material and handling, plus help cover the miss quoted shipping costs, if you are wrong on the weight.

Now it is important to state your shipping time, when you expect your payment, and if you allow returns or not. If you do not allow returns, then you must state “sold as Is” Be clear so that you don’t run into problems later. All ways keep your shipping receipts, and if the item is breakable, make sure that the buyer is required to buy shipping insurance.

 Once you get the hang of it, you may want to expand your operations from selling Garage sale items (Note: There are people selling Garage Sale items on ebay and making a good living from it). Your initial selling may give you a little funding to do so. There are three ways to expand your selling on ebay, buy in bulk, create your own products, or use drop shipping. Buying in bulk means you will get a flat wholesale rate if you buy a 100 or more of a certain product. You will receive this product and will have to store it. It’s a fine way to do business, but if your item doesn’t sell well, then your stuck with the excess inventory.

Drop shipping is widely used on Ebay. It allows the seller to sell the item before he or she even pays for it, thus item sells, seller transfers part of the money to the drop shipper, who takes care of the packing and shipping. This can be risky, specially for a newbie. It is best to buy at least one of each item that you sell through drop shipping methods so that you can cover the shipment if the item sold becomes sold out. There has been a lot of eBay sellers who have been burned this way. They have sold the item, but then they find out that the item is out of stock, a sticky situation to say the least. Now the seller is forced to return the money back to the buyer, and most of the time, the buyer returns the favor with a negative feedback and too much negative feedback, you can say goodbye to your selling days on eBay.

Newbie drop shippers do not make much on per sale as experienced and veteran drop shippers. That is why you may see products getting sold on ebay for way less than what you are paying to the drop shipper per sale. The reason is you have to prove yourself. The more you sell, the cheaper your price will be.

The Third way is to create digital products, Art, crafts, or anything that might make you unique. If the only place a person can get the item your selling is through you, then you will have it made on ebay (Granted it is a demand). Be creative and you will do just fine with anything you create.

Now that I’ve explained the how to make money on ebay, I would like to let you know there is a way to make money with eBay with out selling anything of yours, not shipping anything, and not even dealing with the customers. It can be done by using the Ebay affiliate network. You can earn for just pointing people to ebay, as much as $25 per sign up, and 50% of the ebay fees generated from your referrals winning bids. Sounds complicated doesn’t it, well it isn’t.

Not to mention they will generally get you a check in your hand as soon as next month as long as you hit the required payout.  (Remember don’t cheat, You’ll get caught) Some people know of these and tried them, but are too damn lazy to type in the info or finish the surveys. Let’s put it this way you work at your day job to earn your money don’t you? Do expect anything different here, but if your smart, the work load will be a lot easier and you’ll make more money with these and sometimes a lot more, I’ll explain this later in this article.

There are two specific programs that I use religiously. They each produce extra spendable income for my family and I each and every month and the best part is I didn’t spend one red cent to get them to produce like they are now. I just put in the time and work to make them work for me.

30% goes toward the family. They take it and spend it any way they like…..(Keeps them off of your back when your spending some time on the computer.)

10% goes to helping with the regular household bills each month.

10% Goes into savings, not to be touched unless an emergency.

10% Goes into a vacation fund. Ads up and you can now start taking some nice vacations.

Now for the business account.

20% Goes to savings for business purposes.

30% Goes into software and business programs.

35% Goes into advertising for websites and affiliate programs.

15% Goes into website development……

There may be months that I don’t seem to need the funds to expand, or don’t have the time to do so, so I will but those extra funds in savings for each account……

As you may have noticed I’m creating more income streams because I have the expendable income to do so, it is true you will need extra money to produce those big results, but it can happen with out spending any  money from your weekly day job paychecks, (This makes the wife very happy). I’m also getting things I other wise couldn’t afford before I started working online, I’m keeping the family happy by giving them all expendable income each month, I creating a savings account that I couldn’t while I wasn’t working online, I’m allowing us to take vacations that we couldn’t afford with out working online, I’m helping the load on the bills, and I’m creating a better future for me and my family…..

Starting out with those programs have improved my life for the better and I am bless that I have had the opportunity to partake in their systems, and god bless them. I have expanded my income by using the income produced by them and have taken me to place I couldn’t of imagined.
